About The Elite Program

The 2012 season will be our 10th summer competing against the best competition.  Every year we are looking for the BEST lacrosse players for each team.  We only have one team at each level.  The competition for spots on each team is intense, as over 500 lacrosse players tryout for spots on our teams.  That means a lot of very good lacrosse players do not make Leading Edge teams.

Players that make it to the Leading Edge are rewarded by knowing they are playing with outstanding players, being coached by outstanding coaches and being challenged by playing against the other TOP club programs in the country.  Leading Edge is uniquely positioned in NJ by being one of two programs selected to be part of the National Scholastic Club Lacrosse Association (NSCLA, www.NSCLA.com).  The NSCLA members are some of the strongest club lacrosse programs in the country.

High School - Preparing for the Spotlight

9th Grade - Our 9th grade coaches work on teaching players a faster style of play. The speed of the game at the HS level is very fast. Some freshman have the opportunity to play at the Varsity level. Most do not and it takes time to learn to play that style.

For Sophomore, Junior and Black teams the focus is on EXPOSURE.  Leading Edge players are known to be fantastic students, outstanding lacrosse players, and great leaders and they have brought the recruiting spotlight to the Leading Edge name. You will be seen by all of the top D1, D2 and D3 coaches in the country.

How to prepare. - Always playing hard and doing the right thing; from warming up with 100% effort, to sprinting to the substitution box when the coach calls your number, to handling yourself on the sideline or when you’re resting. A coach may have his eye on you at any moment once you step onto the tournament property.

Leading Edge players are now at schools like:

Syracuse, Johns Hopkins, Rutgers, St. Johns, Holy Cross, Fairfield, Delaware, Army, Navy, Air Force Academy, Hofstra, Providence, Marist, Hartford, Trinity College, Muhlenburg, Stevens, McDaniel, Dickinson, Scranton, Ohio State, Yale, Cabrini, Western New England, Amherst and many, many more.

Middle School LAX - Grades 5 through 8

At the middle school level our focus is on developing a complete lacrosse player.  Often in grades 5 and 6 our coaches will move players from position to position.   Just because you play attack, midfield, defense or goalie for your town team does not mean that is the position the fits you best.  By playing different positions with great players teaches you the nuances of each position.  This is also how our players develop a such a high lacrosse IQ.  LAX IQ is something you will hear a lot about as you get older and start the college recruiting process.  Our coaches pride themselves on developing players with above average LAX IQ.

Improvement does not come without tremendous work, effort and sacrifice on the part of each player.  The players whowork the hardest - make every single practice and tournament - get the most out of their commitment.  This includes keeping your body healthy and in shape, making good decisions in school at home and around town with your friends.

Our membership in the NSCLA at the high school level ensures that you will be have the attention of the college coaches, and most importantly play against the other TOP RATED players in the United States.  The NSCLA has tournament opportunities open only to its’ membership base.  When college coaches come to see you play at an NSCLA event, they know they will be able to truly evaluate the players in attendance as every game will have great players at every position.  Check out the programs involved in the NSCLA, www.nscla.com, I am certain you will be impressed.

To be a great player you must play with other great players, you must be coached by great coaches and you must play against great competition.  Every year we hold tryouts for every single team.  We are continually searching for the BEST players in NJ.  If you consider yourself the best then you owe it to yourself to tryout for a Leading Edge team.  You can find additional information for each team as well as tryout dates and locations by clicking on the team links to the left.

At Leading Edge Elite, lacrosse is OUR passion and we are looking for players that are passionate about being the best they can be on and off the field.  We hope to see you at tryouts!
