Leading Edge High School Teams

Teams:

Leading Edge Elite fields three high school teams:

  • Red - All current freshman
  • Black - Mostly sophomores with some juniors
  • White - The best HS players regardless of grade

These teams have 2 dedicated coaches per team.

Leading Edge selects players that participate in the tryout process.  All players (current and new) must participate in tryouts.  No player is guaranteed a spot on a team just becuase they participated the previous season.  Since there are only three teams tryouts are extremely competitive. Players that decide to tryout should be among the best players on thier high school team, a strong desire to play in college, have above average skills, athletic ability, and a passion for lacrosse.  The best lacrosse players play multiple sports.

Program Highlights:

  • Each team has two dedicated coaches for the entire season.
  • Each team will participate in 5 tournaments.  The tournament schedule for 2009 will be posted prior to tryouts.
  • Each team will have 8 - 10 practices at the Rutgers University Athletic Complex on Busch Campus.
  • Each player will have the option to participate in additional skill sessions.
  • Each teams' roster will be capped at 23 (some teams may have less).
  • One day Mini Camp at Rutgers.
  • Assistance in the college recruiting process.
  • Exposure to college coaches
  • Pre Season Meeting About the Recruiting Process (guest speaker(s)

Players and parents considering this should also consider the committment.  We expect all players to attend all practicces and all tournaments.  We understand life gets in the way from time to time.  The effort should be there to attend everything.  Outstanding attendance equals success in the tournaments.  We can have the most talented teams on paper, but if the players miss practices and miss tournaments we will not be successful.  At the high school level many of our players get invited to "recruiting events" during the summer.  Some are good most are not.  Please consult with Leading Edge prior to making a committment to an event that conflicts with the Leading Edge schedule.  We are confident the exposure you get by participating with Leading Edge cannot be matched by the other programs out there.

Players must want to play in college if you are participating on a team.  The schedule is demanding, the coaches are demanding and frankly it is a lot of work.

Specific details such as practice dates/times, tournament dates/locations, fees etc... will be available around the time of tryouts.
